These Customer Portal Terms of Service ("Portal Terms") govern your access to and use of the WorkSlate customer portal ("Portal") as an end customer ("End User," "you," or "your") of a service business ("Service Business") that uses the WorkSlate platform. The Portal is operated by WorkSlate, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("WorkSlate"). By accessing or using the Portal, you agree to these Portal Terms.
Note: These Portal Terms govern your relationship with WorkSlate as the platform operator. Your service relationship (the work being performed, pricing, warranties, scheduling, etc.) is governed by the separate agreement between you and the Service Business.
1. What the Customer Portal Is
The WorkSlate customer portal is a secure, web-based interface that allows you to:
- View and approve quotes and estimates submitted by your Service Business
- View, download, and pay invoices
- Track job status, scheduling, and technician arrival
- Review your service history and associated documents
- Manage communication preferences, including SMS and email opt-in and opt-out
- Electronically sign documents and agreements
- Submit service requests or questions to your Service Business
2. Portal Access
2.1 Invitation-Only. Access to the Portal is provided by invitation from a Service Business that uses WorkSlate. WorkSlate does not independently solicit End Users.
2.2 Account Credentials. You may be required to create a portal account using your email address or a unique link provided by the Service Business. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any credentials and for all activity under your portal account.
2.3 Accuracy. You agree to provide accurate and current information when using the Portal, including payment information submitted for invoice payments.
3. Payments Through the Portal
3.1 Payment Processing. Invoice payments made through the Portal are processed by a third-party payment processor (currently Stripe). By submitting a payment, you agree to the payment processor's terms of service and privacy policy. WorkSlate does not store full payment card numbers.
3.2 Payment Authorization. By entering payment information in the Portal, you authorize the Service Business to charge the designated payment method for the invoice amount displayed.
3.3 Payment Disputes. Disputes regarding the amount, quality, or terms of service should be directed to the Service Business. WorkSlate is not a party to the service contract between you and the Service Business and is not responsible for resolving service disputes.
3.4 Receipts. Electronic receipts are provided via email following successful payment. You should retain these for your records.
4. Quote and Document Approvals
4.1 Electronic Approvals. When you approve a quote or sign a document through the Portal, such approval or signature constitutes a legally binding electronic acceptance under the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN Act) and applicable state e-signature laws. For users outside the United States, equivalent local e-signature laws may apply.
4.2 Review Before Accepting. You are responsible for reviewing all quotes, estimates, and documents thoroughly before providing electronic approval or signature. Contact the Service Business before approving if you have questions.
4.3 Document Retention. Approved documents and signed agreements are stored in the Portal for your reference. You should download or export copies of important documents for your own records. Document availability may be subject to the Service Business's retention settings.
5. Communication Preferences
5.1 Transactional Notifications. The Service Business may send you transactional notifications (appointment confirmations, job status updates, payment receipts) via SMS or email as part of service delivery. These are sent pursuant to your existing service relationship.
5.2 Marketing Communications. Marketing messages require your separate, explicit opt-in. You may manage all communication preferences at any time through the Portal settings or by contacting the Service Business.
5.3 SMS Opt-In. If you opt in to SMS communications, your consent and preferences are governed by the WorkSlate SMS Messaging Terms, available at getworkslate.com/legal/sms-terms.
6. Acceptable Use of the Portal
You agree not to:
- Attempt to access portal accounts belonging to other End Users
- Submit false, fraudulent, or misleading information
- Interfere with or disrupt Portal functionality or security
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract data from the Portal
- Use the Portal for any unlawful purpose
7. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Portal involves the processing of personal data by WorkSlate on behalf of the Service Business. WorkSlate's Privacy Policy (getworkslate.com/legal/privacy-policy) describes how we process your data as platform operator. The Service Business may also have its own privacy policy governing the service relationship. Contact the Service Business for details about its data practices.
8. Availability and Modifications
WorkSlate does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability of the Portal. Portal features may be modified, suspended, or discontinued by WorkSlate or at the direction of the Service Business. WorkSlate is not liable for any inability to access the Portal due to maintenance, outages, or discontinuation.
9. Disclaimers
THE PORTAL IS PROVIDED "AS IS." WORKSLATE MAKES NO WARRANTIES REGARDING THE PORTAL, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. WORKSLATE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SERVICES PERFORMED BY THE SERVICE BUSINESS, FOR THE ACCURACY OF QUOTES OR INVOICES, OR FOR ANY DISPUTE BETWEEN YOU AND THE SERVICE BUSINESS.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WORKSLATE'S LIABILITY TO END USERS FOR CLAIMS ARISING FROM USE OF THE PORTAL SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT OF FEES (IF ANY) PAID BY THE END USER DIRECTLY TO WORKSLATE IN THE THREE (3) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. WORKSLATE IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM PORTAL USE. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.
11. Account Deletion
End Users may request deletion of their Portal account and associated personal data at any time. The process, timelines, and data retention implications of account deletion are governed by the Permanent Account Deletion Terms available at getworkslate.com/legal/account-deletion, and by WorkSlate's Privacy Policy. Note that certain data may be retained by the Service Business independently under its own data practices.

These Portal Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. For users in the EU or UK, applicable consumer protection law applies and may grant you additional rights not limited by these Portal Terms. For users in Australia, the Australian Consumer Law applies.
13. Changes to Portal Terms
WorkSlate may update these Portal Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the Portal or email at least thirty (30) days before the effective date. Continued use of the Portal after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
